Previewing decision day for Auburn DL target Kamarion Franklin
Here is a quick commitment announcement preview of 4-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin from Lake Cormorant (Miss.)
TIME: Saturday, Aug. 21, 12 p.m. CT, 1 p.m. ET
RANKING/RATING: Franklin, who is listed at 6-foot-5 260 pounds, is the No. 39 overall player, the No. 7 defensive lineman, and the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Franklin holds a 95.86 On3 Industry rating and a 91 rating from On3. He is considered a 5-star by two of the four major recruiting services.
THE 411: At least four schools have had some confidence with Franklin in the past year. Auburn, Miami, Tennessee, and Ole Miss have all been near the top for a while.
At one point, Tennessee had some confidence that it led. Then Miami was emerging. Auburn recently emerged to what some believe a big lead. Then Ole Miss surged back in to the picture. This one has been hard to call due to the twists and turns along the way.
Going into Saturday, it sounds as though Auburn, Miami, and Ole Miss are the top suiters for his commitment.
Quotes of note
— “(Auburn’s) like a family place, for real. It’s full of good people.”
— “I have a great relationship with coach (Jeremy) Garrett,” Franklin told Auburn Live. “Him and coach (Hugh) Freeze want me to come and change the program. That means a lot to me. Coach Garrett gets me. He understands me. He knows where I come from. I know where he comes from. We just connect real good.”
— “Auburn is like the underdog in my recruitment. Not a lot of people talk about Auburn, but I feel strongly about Auburn. I love the people. I love Coach Freeze and Coach Garrett. They both are from Mississippi. I feel at home.”

Why it could be Auburn/Final call
RECRUITING PREDICTION MACHINE: The RPM favors Auburn at 54.5%, Ole Miss is a close second at 39.3%.
IF AUBURN LANDS HIM: It would give the Tigers commitment No. 17 in the 2024 class and a possible jump into the top 10. It would be the third recruit who holds a 5-star status by at least on recruiting industry for Freeze.
WHY IT COULD BE AUBURN: Relationships with Jeremy Garrett, Hugh Freeze, Mississippi connection, early playing time, family feel, and NIL,
WHY IT COULD BE SOMEONE ELSE: Ole Miss is the hometown school. He has been thought to take pride in that. Miami has also made a big move with him due to co-defensive coordinator Jason Taylor.
FINAL CALL: Auburn. Auburn surged big time during the visit after Big Cat Weekend. Truthfully, the Tigers were surging before that as well. He likes the idea of playing for Garrett according to sources and feels a connection with he and Freeze due to being from Mississippi (his words). Ole Miss continues to come on strong, but I think Auburn holds on for his commitment on Saturday.
