Prince Tega Wanogho latest Auburn Tiger to earn Super Bowl ring
On the play Kansas City kicked the game-winning field goal in Sunday’s Super Bowl, a former Auburn Tiger was in the middle of the action.
That player was Prince Tega Wanogho.
He protected the right side of the formation as a tackle while the Chiefs’ Harrison Butker nailed the go-ahead kick in Kansas City’s 38-35 victory.
Wonogho, per AL.com, “became the 19th Auburn alumnus to play in a Super Bowl victory as he got on the field for seven special-teams snaps.”
The former Auburn standout is a backup tackle for the Chiefs who just completed his third NFL season. His journey to Super Bowl champion is an amazing one.
A native of Africa, he actually came to the U.S. to play basketball. But at Edgewood Academy in tiny Elmore, Ala., his focus later shifted to football.
And that is when his athletic career took off.
With his combination of size, speed and athleticism many major college programs offered him a scholarship despite the fact he had only one year of football experience. Ultimately, Wonogho chose Auburn.

The Chiefs re-signed Wanogho for the 2021 season, and he started the campaign on the practice squad. He played in every game for the Chiefs this season, mostly on special teams.
