For the third time in the last four trips, Auburn won inside Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville. The 13th-ranked Tigers defeated Vanderbilt 80-65 on Wednesday night to improve to 15-2 overall and 4-0 in SEC play. The 'Dores fall to 5-12 overall and 0-4 in SEC play. Auburn has started 4-0 in SEC play in recent seasons, including the 2021-22 season and the 2017-18 season. The Tigers also started 4-0 in 1999-2000 and 1998-1999. The win gives Bruce Pearl 188 victories as Auburn men's basketball coach, continuing his march towards Joel Eaves' record of 213 wins. It's Auburn's 10th consecutive win, all by double digits. From 2003 until 2017, the two teams played 18 times. Auburn won once during that span. Since, the teams have played seven times, with the Tigers winning six. The Tigers also topped 70 points for only the fourth time in the last 14 games inside Memorial Gymnasium. Jaylin Williams led Auburn in scoring with 21 and seven rebounds, followed by Dylan Cardwell's career-high 12 points along with six rebounds, with Johni Broome adding 15 points and 12 rebounds and Aden Holloway adding eight points.
