Quoteworthy: “Auburn is my new home,” Fairweather said. “It’s just the culture here and the facility and stuff and the coaches here — I just really love it here and my family loved it here. So that’s where I’m going to be at. It feels great man. There’s not a lot of time in this transfer portal and signing day stuff. Happy to have found my new home here and can’t wait to get here Jan. 8.”
The Fairweather File
Breakdown from Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston:
- Fairweather is listed at 6-foot-5 250 pounds. At that size, he has the ability to out-run smaller defenders in the secondary. He did a lot of his damage at the slot receiver position.
- Fairweather lined up as a tight end at times, but seems to be more effective out in space. He can do both, but is not a serious blocking threat as a tight end. He has also worked some at the H-back position, but his skillset is best served as a receiver.
- He is a deep threat. He has the ability to go up and make plays in traffic. In fact, most of his catches came while covered heavily. His big frame and strong hands helped him win those 50/50 balls.
- Fairweather is also a goal line option for fades and back shoulder throws. He can line up anywhere and create a mismatch problem.
SEC readiness
Breakdown from Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston:
Fairweather is physically ready to compete against SEC defensive backs and linebackers in the SEC. The transition from FIU to the SEC should be seamless with his skillset.
