Roger McCreary taken early in the 2nd round by the Tennessee Titans

Roger McCreary, former 3-star recruit from Mobile, Ala. (Williamson High School), was taken as the No. 35 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on Friday. The Titans needed help in the form of a cover corner, and they will get one in McCreary.
McCreary didn’t have the performance during the Combine and Auburn’s pro day that he had hoped. He ran a 4.5 40, which was a touch slower than an elite corner with his size usually runs. Still, McCreary showed too much promise on film to pass up.
McCreary used to being counted out
As a former 3-star recruit who was committed to South Alabama, McCreary understands how to exceed expectations. He has always been counted out. He was a late signee for Auburn after flipping his commitment from South Alabama.
It wasn’t long until he was making plays on the field. The first time McCreary stood out was when he intercepted Joe Burrow on an attempt at a deep ball against Jamar Chase. At the time, it didn’t seem as big, but as he continued to lock down receivers, and Burrow and Chase became the best tandem in college football, it was obvious McCreary was legitimate.

Others still on the board
Auburn still has multiple possibilities to be drafted. Safety Smoke Monday is awaiting his name to be called. Also expected to be drafted is LB Zakoby McClain.
It is possible that another Auburn player could be taken. It would be somewhat of a surprise, but it is too early to rule it out. Stay tuned as the draft continues.
