Auburn checks all the boxes for Walker
Walker’s commitment to Auburn came less than two weeks after he took an official visit to the Plains in September. He also took official visits to Iowa, Virginia Tech, Butler and Vanderbilt.
Auburn, however, checked all of the boxes for Walker.
“The fan base, the conference, the fact that they’ve recruited me for so long,” he said of things that he likes about the Tigers. “It’s a high-level program. The stock is only rising in this program. They won the SEC last year.
“It’ s a high-level program that I could definitely see myself being a piece of the puzzle.”
Bruce Pearl and Auburn were on Walker before others were.
“Auburn has been recruiting me the longest,” Walker said. “They were the first high-major program to recruit me heavily. Just being able to grow that relationship with BP (Bruce Pearl) and Coach Steven (Pearl) and all the coaches has been really great.

“Just being able to see their genuine interest in me throughout the years has been great. They saw my ability before a lot of people did.”
Staying close to home played a big factor as well.
“I felt the most comfortable at Auburn,” he said to On3. “Being closer to home intrigues me and I’ve been able to grow a strong relationship with Coach Bruce Pearl and the entire staff at Auburn over multiple years now.”
In his own words, what type of player is Auburn getting in Simon Walker?
“I’m a natural leader and very vocal. I’m going to look to make winning plays for my team whether it be making a deep 3, taking a charge, or hitting the open man. I can score on all three levels and I know how to play the right way as I see the floor very well.”
He has a message for Auburn fans.
“Auburn gonna be winning some more championships real soon!! War Eagle!!!”
