Social Slant: 4-star Auburn RB commit J'Marion 'Phat' Burnette shows off speed Thursday night
OPP, ALABAMA – J’Marion “Phat” Burnette, a 4-star running back committed to Auburn, was back in action on Thursday night as Andalusia (Ala.) High School took on Opp (Ala.) High School. It was his first game back from being injured a year ago.
He is one of the longest standing commitments for Auburn’s 2024 class. Many Auburn fans, and probably Auburn coaching staff, were excited to see him healthy again. Burnette and Andalusia took care of business, so he was pulled in the third quarter. Before that, he did some damage when he got the ball.
Burnette was able to create a few highlight plays in two quarters of play.
Burnette highlights
“They put 9 in the box, bear front, outside zone is going to work 90 percent of the time,” Burnette said. “I had great blockers in front and we are just going to keep making those plays.”
Reactions to Burnette touchdown
Burnette was excited to be back in action.
“It feels great,” Burnette said. “To be honest with y’all, first play I was nervous. The play I got hurt on just runs through my head consistently. But after that first play I was good. Everything is going good now.”

Four-star Auburn quarterback commit Walker White joined the hype around this touchdown run by Phat Burnette.. He mentioned another big time Auburn target as well.
Much was said about Burnette’s size, but many Auburn fans and media recognized how fast he was actually moving on this outside zone play. He beat the angle of the safety at the end of the play.
