Social Slant: Auburn 5-star LB commit Demarcus Riddick in action

WETUMPKA, ALABAMA – Demarcus Riddick, a 5-star Auburn linebacker commit from Clanton (Ala.) Chilton County, was in action Friday night. Riddick and Chilton County took on Russell County (Ala.) High School and Wetumpka (Ala.) High School in a jamboree.
Riddick is the No. 32 overall player in the country, the No. 3 linebacker in the country, and the No. 4 player in the state of Alabama according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He committed to Auburn over Alabama and Georgia in July.
Riddick had a few highlight plays and flashed that elite athleticism that got him to 5-star status. It was his first live action since committing to the Tigers. Auburn Live was able to get a good majority of his good plays on video.
Highlights
Off-the-hoof, Riddick is an impressive prospect. His athleticism is apparent even when going through pregame warmups and drills.

Riddick had his first tackle on the second defensive series of the game. He then started to get loose and was moving well from sideline to sideline. He was used a good bit in coverage as Russell County threw the ball a good bit. Riddick covers space very well for a linebacker of his size. He did not play any offense but acted as the punt and kick returner.
His most impressive play of the night came on a coverage play. He was in a hook zone but attached to the slot receiver. No. 1 for Russell County, Denver Harper, was all over the field and had a couple of touchdown plays. Riddick locked on him and prevented another big play from happening.
