Auburn football has added a landmark addition to its 2024 class. Joseph Phillips, a 4-star linebacker from Tuskegee (Ala.) Booker T. Washington, will be a Tiger.

It is a landmark win because of who wanted him. Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, Texas A&M and many others were willing to take Phillips even though he is raw as a football player.

Auburn Twitter was given some time to use the process of elimination in figuring who Hugh Freeze may have been tweeting about a day ago.

It will be fun to walk through to tweet reactions to Freeze’s original tweet, and then to the reactions of the big commitment from Phillips.

Reactions to Hugh Freeze ‘bat signal’

On Wednesday around noon, Joseph Phillips announced on his Twitter that he would be making a commitment on Thursday at noon. Shortly after, Tigers’ coach Hugh Freeze tweeted out the “eyes” emoji, signifying that big news was on the way.

He was not joking. Here are some of the reactions to that preliminary tweet.
