The previous Auburn regime recruited him and evaluated him this fall, but never offered. He was in contact often with the Tigers after a strong camp performance. He committed to the Razorbacks on June 26. Now, Johnson will be a Tiger, a school he hoped would offer all along.

SEC readiness

Breakdown from Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston:

Johnson is not ready to contribute on the SEC level. He has time to trim up and build strength. Johnson has decent feet for a guy who is well north of 300 pounds. When he can harness the quickness with some extra power behind his massive frame, he can be a good player at Auburn.

For now, we label Johnson as a developmental player with a great frame and a nice athletic ceiling.
