Auburn Gymnastics star Sunisa Lee announced on Tuesday that the upcoming season will be her last as a Tiger. 2023 will be Lee’s second season, but it will be her last in an Auburn uniform.

Lee announced her decision on social media on Tuesday.

Competing for Auburn University has always been a dream of mine, and a dream that rose in tandem with going to the Olympics. I’ve learned so much about myself, true teamwork, and about community during my time here. With that being said, this will be my last season competing at Auburn University. My focus right now is to make it the most incredible season yet, and to be the best teammate I can be, to strive for excellence and to meet our maximum potential. I am so excited to share that after this season, I will be returning to Elite Gymnastics. I have my sights set on Paris in 2024.

In one season at Auburn, Lee was able to earn eight All-American selections across the four events that she competed in. She was named 2022 SEC Freshman of the year, made the All-SEC Gymnastics team, and helped lead the Tigers to a Final Four Appearance.

Lee is one of the top athletes, regardless of gender, in collegiate sports. According to On3 NIL 100, Lee is ranked No. 9 in the country with an NIL Valuation of $1.5 million. She is the second highest ranked female in the rankings behind only Livvy Dunne, LSU Gymnastics star.

Auburn Gymnastics will have a Preview Meet on Friday, Dec. 16 and will open the season against Arkansas on Friday Jan. 20 at Neville Arena.

Lee, along with the recent success from the Auburn Gymnastics program has garnered big crowds for meets unlike Auburn has seen in the past. That is expected to continue, especially as Lee will be moving on after the upcoming season.
