Takeaways: Bruce Pearl talks upcoming 'trap' game, 'unselfish' team basketball, the growth of the program and more
AUBURN -- Following a dominating win over Indiana on a neutral floor and ahead of a home game against high-profile USC on Sunday inside Neville Arena, head coach Bruce Pearl calls Auburn's game against UNC-Asheville on Wednesday night in Huntsville a "trap" game. "It feels a lot like the Appy State game, having just beaten a good Virginia Tech team then we go to App State and the next one is Indiana. We just beat a really good Indiana team and we go play Asheville in Huntsville, and we have Southern Cal coming in Sunday," Pearl said. "We've talked to the team about it. We lost at App State not because we weren't prepared or ready, we got outplayed. Those guards made some big shots. Again, we got better and we learned from some of the things we didn't do. Hopefully we'll continue to get better. Asheville won their league last year and they are picked to win their league again. They might not be as good as a year ago, but obviously they know how to win and they've played a tough schedule." The game tips at 7pm CT on SEC Network+ inside the Von Braun Center on Wednesday evening. Read more from Pearl inside...
