THOMASVILLE, GEORGIA — For 4-star receiver Adam Hopkins of Thomas County Central, having Auburn receivers coach Ike Hilliard and an assistant from Florida State at his game Friday night was, well, pretty cool.

“It made me go even harder,” Hopkins said. “Me knowing they’re out there — that love they’re showing me. They traveled all the way from where they’re from to see me play. So it’s like, ‘I’ve got to turn it up,’ you know what I mean. I like it. I love it.”

Hopkins, listed at 5-foot-11 and 174 pounds, has emerged as a big Auburn target in recent weeks. He’s the No. 29 receiver in the country for the On3 Consensus. Right now, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Texas A&M, but the Tigers are making a move.

Hopkins will visit Auburn in the near future

Hopkins plans to officially visit Auburn next weekend.

Hilliard is his lead Tigers recruiter and the two have developed a strong relationship.

“We’ve just got that love,” Hopkins told Auburn Live on Friday night. “We talk on a regular basis, like every day. That love is there.”

Unfortunately for Hopkins, he injured his shoulder while recording an 8-yard reception in the second quarter Friday night and did not return to the game. But he said afterward the injury was not serious and he could have played if his team needed him to do so.

“It was my shoulder — it’s got an AC sprain but I’m good though,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins said Friday he looks forward to officially visiting the Tigers on Sept. 10. He called it an important trip.

He is eager to check out the Tigers in person

“I’m blessed man; I was trying to get up there earlier,” he said. “I’ve just got to see everything. See how they show me that love. I’ve got to see how they play and use (the receivers), even though I see on TV. I just want to see it in person.”

Where does Auburn stand with Hopkins, who also plans to officially visit Arkansas and Kansas State?

“They’re up there,” he said.

According to Hopkins, he expects the Tigers to push for a commitment during his official. That’s something he’d like.

“I love it,” Hopkins said. “As long as they’re pushing for it, I know they want me.”

Could Hopkins jump in the boat if things go well in Auburn?

“Yes,” he said, while nodding.
