Trovon Reed remaining at Auburn, officially joining Hugh Freeze's coaching staff

AUBURN – Trovon Reed is staying home. The former Auburn player and current Director of Football and Recruiting Relations plans to remain on new head coach Hugh Freeze’s coaching staff.
“I’m just one of those examples, if you love Auburn, Auburn will love you back,” Reed told Auburn Live.
Reed played for Auburn from 2010-2014, making him a part of a national championship team and another team that played for the title. His experience in college and in the NFL, signing with five teams from 2015-2018 including the Seahawks, Rams, Dolphins, Chargers and 49ers, makes him invaluable as it pertains to helping build culture inside the program from both a recruiting and current team perspective.

Last year, now freshman defensive back Austin Ausberry told Auburn Live, “Coach Reed is the realest dude I’ve ever met. That’s my guy, for sure. He kept it real about everything. I just appreciate his time and everything.”

Reed started with former coach Bryan Harsin in August of 2021, assisting in player development. He took on an elevated role after former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo was fired after the 2021 season. The open staff position allowed for Reed to go on the road recruiting with the coaching staff. Reed helped recruit Ausberry, safety Marquise Gilbert and others last recruiting cycle.
In October of 2021 is when Trovon Reed was promoted to a director role focusing on building relationships with recruits, signees and current players on the roster. People in those positions are often times incredibly important to the inner workings of the program.
