Two Auburn players selected on day two of MLB Draft
AUBURN — Auburn baseball had two players selected in the MLB Draft on Monday. Pitchers Chase Allsup and Tanner Bauman heard their names called.
Allsup was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the 127th overall pick in the fourth round and Bauman was selected by the New York Yankees with the 271st overall pick in the ninth round.
Auburn has now had at least one player taken in the draft in 50 straight seasons. That’s tied for the longest streak in the SEC. It’s the sixth straight season the Tigers have had multiple players selected in the top 10 rounds, marking the longest streak in program history.

Allsup made 50 career appearances at Auburn, including 19 starts. He racked up 159 strikeouts in 141.0 innings pitched.

Allsup led the team in wins (four), innings pitched (62.1) and strikeouts (74) for the 2024 season. The junior saved his best for last as he went 3-0 with a 2.11 ERA in his last four appearances, striking out 31 and issuing four walks in 21.1 innings pitched during the span.
Bauman was a key player in the Auburn pitching staff the last two seasons. He made 42 appearances, including nine starts, and registered 89 strikeouts in 94.1 inning pitched since the beginning of 2023.
After pitching in relief for most of his career, Bauman turned in a 3.76 ERA with 25 strikeouts and eight walks in 26.1 innings pitched as the team’s steadiest starting pitcher the last six weeks of the season. He turned in the best start of his career in his final outing, recording career highs with 6.0 innings pitched and eight strikeouts.
