VIDEO: New Auburn commit Daquayvious Sorey shines in opener
Just hours after committing to Auburn on Friday, Daquayvious Sorey showed exactly why the Tigers have such a high opinion of him.
In a 41-0 win over Rutherford (Fla.), the 4-star receiver from Chipley (Fla.) was pretty dominant — and definitely flashed an impressive skillset.
He caught passes. He ran the ball effectively. Returned punts. Hurdled defenders.
He scored twice. One of those touchdowns came on a short reception. The other was an electrifying screen play that covered 84 yards.
Sorey’s final stats:
-Six receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns.
-Two punt returns for 46 yards
He did his damage Friday night in one half of football. The game effectively was over at the break and thus there was no need to play Sorey in the final 24 minutes.
Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston attended Sorey’s game and shot the video below.
Sorey was commitment No. 8 in the 2023 class for Bryan Harsin’sprogram. He’s the No. 53 prospect in the state of Florida for the 2023 class and the No. 35 receiver nationally.

Sorey plans to visit Auburn again in September for his official visit
Sorey told Auburn Live on Thursday that Auburn receivers coach Ike Hilliard is one of the biggest reasons the Tigers had a shot to land him.
“Coach Ike is a real-deal dude,” Sorey told Auburn Live. “He’s a real one and our relationship is strong.”
For Auburn, Sorey is the second 2023 receiver commitment, joining Karmello English, a 4-star recruit from Phenix City (Ala.) Central.
Sorey plans to visit the Tigers this fall. And that visit is likely to place soon.
“When they play Penn State, that’ll be my official visit,” he said.
