Four-star quarterback Walker White of Little Rock (Ark.) Little Rock Christian signed his National Letter of Intent with Auburn on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

The White File

Position: Quarterback

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3 / 225 pounds

Notable trait/Auburn fit: White is a physical presence at quarterback with a strong arm, good mechanics, and the ability to make plays with his legs. He can be a bit of a gamer doing things such as making throws on the run or hurdling defenders.

On3 Industry Ranking: (92.24) No. 159 overall, No. 11 QB, No. 3 in Arkansas

Commitment date: Feb. 3, 2023

Chose Auburn over: Clemson

Time of enrollment: January

Notable: White seemed like a done deal to commit to Clemson before Tigers’ head coach Hugh Freeze, and other offensive coaches including Philip Montgomery, Kent Austin, and Jesse Stone got involved. White is considered one of the first big turning point recruiting wins of the 2024 class as it looked like he was headed elsewhere as late as the day of his commitment.

Quoteworthy: “As a recruit it is hard not to open your eyes. Like, ok, Auburn wasn’t that great last year, now they are competing with the No. 1 team in the country and only losing by one touchdown. To other recruits, if their thought process is that they want to go to a place that can win, you can’t count Auburn out of that category. With how special this class is already, there are so many weapons we have right now and we are bringing in more. We know that Auburn will be a winning program here shortly. It is about buying in. To the recruits, you can’t count Auburn out of being a winning program again here soon. It’s attractive for sure.”

Breakdown

**Breakdown written by Auburn Live Recruiting Analyst Cole Pinkston

— White’s pocket presence is advanced at his current stage. He has the confidence to hold the ball and work around in the pocket as long as needs to. He won’t be afforded that opportunity as often on the next level, but it’s a strong quality to build around.

— White is not looking to pull down and run, he’d rather stay active in the pocket and read his progressions. However, he’s got some wheels. He appears to handle the zone read and RPO type plays well. When he gets in open field, he is fast enough to make a big play.

— There is some heat behind his throws. He has a tendency to strong arm a throw, meaning he doesn’t go all the way through his throwing motion. His accuracy doesn’t appear to suffer from it for now, but in order to keep touch on all of his throws, that could use some correction.

— His accuracy on the deep ball is good for the most part despite a few misses. He doesn’t put much air under the ball sometimes when it needs it. He looks to still be learning how to put trajectory on the ball for specific throws.
