AUBURN- The Bob Cousy Award recognizes the top point guard in Division I men’s college basketball.

Auburn’s own Wendell Green Jr. has been named to the watchlist for the second year in a row and it is well deserved.

Green Jr. is Auburn’s top returning scorer, averaging 12 points per game. His team-leading 172 assists this past season is the eighth most in a single season in program history. Along with team records, Green Jr. also led the SEC in plus-minus this past regular season.

These are all just statistics of performance on the court. With leaders in NBA first rounders Walker Kessler and Jabari Smith, Bruce Pearl sees the impact that Green. Jr has been able to step up and make during the off season.

An official date has not been set for the announcement of the winner of the Bob Cousy Award, but fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting (presented by Dell Technologies) in each of the three elimination rounds. The first will be on Oct. 28. The watchlist of currently 20 players will be narrowed to 10 at the end of January. This list will be further narrowed to just five in late February. Afterwards, those athletes will be presented to the Cousy and Hall of Fame’s selection committee in March.
