What Hugh Freeze said as Auburn starts Week Four of spring football camp
AUBURN — It’s Week Four of Auburn football spring camp. Hugh Freeze met the media on Monday afternoon to chat about the progress on a number of fronts, including how the team fared in their second scrimmage and more.

Here’s the high points from Freeze’s meeting with the media as practice No. 10 gets underway:
— “I thought we tackled really well” for not tackling often when talking about last Friday’s scrimmage.
— “We got better last week,” Freeze said of the quarterbacks. Freeze said they added a few period of “base” stuff in terms of how the offense should be ran. “I thought the quarterbacks overall took a step forward.”
— When Hugh Freeze was asked who stood out, he answered with “Holden Geriner,” saying the young QB did some nice things.
— Robby Ashford is nursing a sore shoulder, Freeze said. He didn’t throw Wednesday or Friday after having his best practice on Monday.

The path to the championship game is clear
— Freshman OL Connor Lew “will play as a freshman,” Freeze says without hesitation. “We hit a home run,” Freeze said.
— “Every place our staff has gone, we’ve been able to create some buzz” in recruiting, he says.
— Hugh Freeze says “not as much as I’d like” when talking about seeing progress among the wide receivers.
— What’s up with J.D. Rhym? “He got out of the brace but won’t be a part of spring ball.”
— Hugh Freeze makes it quite clear: “We are open to the portal business for anyone that fits the culture at Auburn and can help our team quickly.”
