AUBURN- Head coach Bryan Harsin spoke in the weekly SEC Coaches’ teleconference this Wednesday afternoon.

After two away games and a bye week, Auburn returns back in Jordan-Hare Stadium to compete against Arkansas at 11 a.m. CT on SEC Network.

Here’s what we learned from Harsin

  • Says the bye week helped them- had a good practice yesterday. “Guys are working hard.. We’re excited to get back at home. It’s been a month since we’ve played at home.”
  • Harsin’s comment when asked if freshman redshirt cornerback A.D. Diamond is still on the roster: “He’s not”-“He’s no longer on the team.”
  • Harsin’s mindset on redshirting players: “We have who has redshirt ability as a staff. We talk about that as a staff… Certainly with the new four game rule, we’ve always paid attention to that.”- Didn’t say specifically how he feels about them, just how they work.
  • Harsin said he isn’t aware of any allegations of denying redshirts to players if they aren’t for medical reasons: “Like I said, we obviously know who has them and we monitor that and we do every single week. It all goes back to what is needed and whose out there putting themselves in a position to play… If they’re not going to be able to go out there and play for us and there’s guys ahead of them, they’re young players that have a redshirt year, that’s usually when they’re able to use it… At the end of the day, guys are here to play and we want to make sure that we allow our guys to do that.”
  • Arkansas’ run game: “The biggest challenge is they’re really good… I think their O-Line, from what I’ve seen, they do a lot of really good tings up front and they’re well coached… They’ve got creativity.”
  • The progression of Auburn’s offensive line so far this season: “We’ve had some things- we’ve had to move some (guys) around… We’ll get some guys back and healthy for this week. Our depth will be better. Overall, I think those guys are improving. I think we showed that in the last game with running the ball… We continue to be a group that is progressing. That’s the best thing for our football team as the season goes on.”
