GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators opened their season with a 13-3 win over Charleston Southern Friday night. Spring is in the air and with that, baseball season. Metal spikes on concrete, the ping of a ball on a bat, a fist hitting a glove, and chatter between teammates filled the air. Those weren’t the only sounds at Condron Ballpark.

Picking the perfect song for a specific situation can be an impossible task. Music can drive emotion, changing your mental state in just a few notes. In the game of baseball where a successful hitter fails 70 percent of their at-bats, being in the right head space is critical. That makes picking a song as you head to the batter’s box a huge decision. Baseball players are superstitious. A two-week slump is likely to end in a change of that song in favor of one “with more hits in it.”
