GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After leading the Florida Gators to a 2025 national title, UF’s senior backcourt trio begins the next chapter of their careers this week with the NBA Draft. Two of the three players are likely to be picked, led by star point guard Walter Clayton Jr.

The consensus first-team All-American has received multiple first-round projections after scoring a UF-record 713 points last season with a marvelous March Madness performance, earning Final Four and West Regional Most Outstanding Player recognition as well as SEC Tournament MVP.

“Whoever picks him is going to get an incredible value,” UF coach Todd Golden said of Clayton. “You look at guys like Fred VanVleet, Damian Lillard, like he’s in that bucket. I’m not saying he’s gonna get there right away. But the guy just had the most incredible senior season, tournament run, whatever you want to say. He’s got real size, incredible athlete, elite shooter. I mean, what doesn’t he do? And he just wins all the games, and that matters to some teams.”

Alijah Martin has received multiple second-round projections after his performance in the NBA Draft Combine, while On3 ranks Will Richard as a top 60 prospect in the 2025 draft class (No. 59 overall). Golden believes Martin and Richard will find a team to call home.

“I’m incredibly confident that both will be on NBA rosters,” Golden said. “Whether that’s a two-way [contract], or whether it’s getting second-round picked, I don’t know exactly. But, we’ve won enough, and those guys, Will and Alijah have done enough in those workouts where we’re getting incredible reviews. Guys are really happy in what they see. So I think both of those guys will end up in great situations.”

The opening round of the 2025 NBA Draft begins Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN and the second round will be on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Here are the final mock draft projections for Clayton and Martin.
