After naming the Florida Gators his leader in April, Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central 3-star OT Javarii Luckas committed to UF on Monday. He picked the Orange and Blue over the finalists, West Virginia and USF. Luckas is more of a sleeper prospect, but one that the Florida Gators are excited about.

“It’s the coaches, the staff, and the players to me,” Luckas told Gators Online about why UF was the pick. I have a great relationship with everyone there. They are good at building relationships. They built an amazing one with my parents. Making sure to text and call every day to check on me. It’s the small things that count.”

Florida views Javarii Luckas as a high upside prospect

The Gators view Javarii Luckas as an underrated prospect and were impressed after seeing him during spring football. Luckas wants to be developed in college. He’s seen the track record Florida offensive line coaches John Decoster and Rob Sale have with taking sleeper linemen and turning them into NFL Draft picks.

“Coach Decoster said he thinks they can develop me and possibly get me to the NFL. That’s what I am reaching for. They are good with development. I know they have a history of doing that stuff with 3-star guys and underdogs.”

After Florida watched the 6-foot-5, 270-pounder in the spring, the Gators viewed film of his performance during a staff meeting. There were several parts of his game that they liked, but his ability to play guard and tackle was a standout. Coach Decoster shared some of that insight with Javarii Luckas.

“Coach Decoster said I have good speed and footwork. He said I can get vertical when I set up, but stay straight on the d-end. He said they liked that and how strong I am. They wanted to see me playing some left and right tackle. They can even play me at some guard and move me around.”

Luckas continues the family legacy

Javarii Luckas is related to former Florida running backs Kelvin Taylor and Fred Taylor. Since adding his offer from the Florida Gators, Kelvin has been in Luckas’ ear about taking his talents to The Swamp. It was beneficial to have someone who’s experienced life inside the program for Luckas to ask questions to.

“Every time I talk to him, he tells me how Florida is a great school,” Luckas said. “He said he had a lot of fun there, and the football is great. He said he loved the campus and said that is where I should go.”

Javarii Luckas is commitment No. 11 for the Florida Gators

With Javarii Luckas now in the fold, the Florida Gators sit with 11 verbal commitments in the 2026 class. He joins Tuskegee (Ala.) Booker T. Washington 4-star WR Marquez Daniel, Tupelo (Miss.) 4-star Edge JaReylan McCoy, Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz 4-star WR Justin Williams, Milton (Fla.) 4-star S Kaiden Hall, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes 4-star RB Carsyn Baker, Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit 4-star quarterback Will Griffin, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood 3-star OT Chancellor Campbell, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 3-star IOL G’Nivre Carr, Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville 3-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez, and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 3-star TE Kekua Aumua.

The On3 Industry, a weighted average of the four major recruiting services, ranks Javarii Lukcas as the nation’s No. 1308 Overall player.
