The Florida Gators summer recruiting heater continues on Monday. The latest name to commit to the University of Florida is Douglasville (Ga.) South Paulding 3-star offensive tackle Tyler Chukuyem. This brings Florida’s total to 12 commitments in the 2026 class. Chukuyem is also the fourth commitment for UF along the offensive line this cycle to date, and the second commitment of the day for the Gators.

Florida sealed the deal last weekend

It took only one trip to Gainesville for the Florida Gators to seal the deal with the Peach State lineman. He knew enough about the Orange and Blue to have an interest in visiting the program. Florida checked off all the boxes he wanted to see while on his official visit. He informed the coaching staff of his plans to commit to them when departing campus this past Sunday.

“For me personally, the food. I love the food,” Chukuyem told Gators Online when asked what the highlights of the visit last weekend were. “That was a good highlight. But then, learning about the education. Because they are a highly ranked public school. That was very informative. And just how they run their operation here with football. That was also very informative.”

The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder prioritized academics when looking for a school. Florida is strong in that aspect, and offers the exact degree that Tyler Chukuyem wants to study while working towards his degree.

“They have a new field coming up for what I want to study,” he said. “I’m trying to study data analytics. Like I said before, they have a good education program. So that’s really going to help out, and I think I can get a good degree. It carries a lot, because education is the number one priority for me and my family. Education is a big deciding factor.”

The Gators view Tyler Chukuyem as a strong fit at tackle

Before Chukuyem visited Florida, he told Gators Online that the UF staff viewed him as a highly underrated prospect in the trenches. The Gators made a strong push after offering in late May up to his commitment date on Monday. Tackle is a premier position for any school, and his traits are ones that UF views as being a good fit at that position.

“They see me coming in as a tackle with my agility and athleticism,” he said. “They’re going to have me on the board as a tackle. Their development of the offensive line itself is just self-explanatory if you look at the players. Things will be good for me.”

Tyler Chukuyem is commitment No. 12 for the Florida Gators

With Tyler Chukuyem now in the fold, the Florida Gators sit with 12 verbal commitments in the 2026 class. He joins Tuskegee (Ala.) Booker T. Washington 4-star WR Marquez Daniel, Tupelo (Miss.) 4-star Edge JaReylan McCoy, Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz 4-star WR Justin Williams, Milton (Fla.) 4-star S Kaiden Hall, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes 4-star RB Carsyn Baker, Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit 4-star quarterback Will Griffin, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood 3-star OT Chancellor Campbell, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 3-star IOL G’Nivre Carr, Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville 3-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 3-star TE Kekua Aumua, and Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central 3-star OL Javarii Luckas.

The On3 Industry, a weighted average of the four major recruiting services, ranks Tyler Chukuyem as the nation’s No. 787 overall player.
