4 Florida Gators headed to the Super Bowl

For the 23rd straight year, the Florida Gators will have a former player representing the program in the Super Bowl. And this year’s big game will feature four of them. Here’s a recap of Sunday’s NFL action involving players that once wore the orange and blue.

Sunday, Jan. 19

NFC Championship: (6) Washington Commanders at (2) Philadelphia Eagles: Eagles 55-23

AFC Championship: (2) Buffalo Bills at (1) Kansas City Chiefs: Chiefs 32-29

Here is how former Florida Gators players did over the weekend

WON–JAWAAN TAYLOR, OT, Kansas City: Started at right tackle. Playoffs — Two starts in two games. Regular season — Made 16 starts at right tackle.
WON–DJ HUMPHRIES, OT, Kansas City: Backup in win over the Bills. Playoffs — Backup at left tackle in two games. Regular season — Made two starts for the Chiefs. He signed with the team Nov. 22 but battled a hamstring issue in December that caused him to miss three games.
WON–C.J. GARDNER-JOHNSON, S, Philadelphia: 5 tackles (3 solo) vs. Washington. Playoffs — 11 tackles (8 solo), 1 tackle for loss in three games. Regular season — Third in the NFL with six interceptions.
WON–FRED JOHNSON, OT, Philadelphia: Backup in win over Commanders. Playoffs — Three games played. Regular season — Five starts this season.
KAIR ELAM, CB, Buffalo: 3 tackles (2 solo) — Playoffs — 3 tackles (2 solo) in one game. He was inactive in the Bills’ first playoff game. Regular season — 13 games played with four starts; 26 total tackles (17 solo), 2 pass breakups.
O’CYRUS TORRENCE, OG, Buffalo: Starter at right guard. Playoffs — Two starts in two games. Regular season — 16 starts this season.
RICHARD GOURAIGE, OT, Buffalo: On practice squad — did not play. Playoffs — has not played. Regular season — Reserve; played in one game this season.
DANTE FOWLER JR., LB, Washington: 1 tackle (0 solo) in the loss. Playoffs — 5 tackles (3 solo), 1 tackle for loss in three games. Regular season — 10.5 sacks this season, giving him 55.5 for his career (10 seasons).

Note: The Super Bowl is Feb. 9 in New Orleans, La.
