4-star OT Ethan Calloway sets commitment date
Ethan Calloway, a top Florida Gators offensive tackle target from Mooresville (N.C.) Lake Norman, has set his commitment date.
He will reveal his college choice June 30.
Florida, Georgia, LSU and Penn State are the top contenders. Calloway officially visited the Gators two weeks ago.
“They definitely set a really high standard and I really had a lot of fun,” Calloway said after his Florida official.
For Florida, Calloway is an A-1 priority target. He’s the No. 17 offensive tackle in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“It was really good, you know,” Calloway said of the Gators visit. “This was the first one of four so I was more excited for them to set a standard. This kind of showed me what an official visit is like. Before this, all I had seen on social media was the photo shoot or the hotel room — stuff like that.”

What stood out?
“I guess the people,” Ethan Calloway said. “It didn’t feel like a recruiting trip. I didn’t feel like they were trying to sell me on something. It really felt like I was on vacation is the best way to say it. It helps that we’re in Florida. It’s beautiful weather. I didn’t feel like they were here trying to tell me why I should play for them. It felt like they were really showing me how I could see myself fitting here and spend the next four or five years here.”
This was not Calloway’s first Florida Gators visit. But this one was different.
Ethan Calloway has visited the Gators multiple times; his official visit, however, was special
What has put Florida high on his list?
“The people mainly, but it’s also the class,” Calloway said. “Obviously the people here are amazing — coaches, support staff. Really everyone here is kind of top of the line … it’s how they act, how they speak — everything. Another thing is the class. They’re putting together a really good class and it’s a possibility this class could change the program for the better. That definitely kind of puts them up there.”
Calloway officially visited Georgia last weekend. He’ll next visit Penn State (Friday) and then LSU (June 23). At this time, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors LSU.
That said, our sources feel strongly the Gators have a legitimate chance to land Ethan Calloway.
