4-star TE Amir Jackson commits to Florida Gators
Amir Jackson, one of the top prospects in Georgia, is bound for Gator Country.
Jackson, a 4-star tight end from Portal High, has committed to the Gators, giving Billy Napier and Co. another On300 verbal.
Jackson is listed at 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds. He’s the No. 10 tight end and No. 130 overall prospect according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Jackson committed to the Gators over Miami, Auburn and others. He also claimed offers from programs such as Alabama and Georgia.
He is commitment No. 10 for the Gators.
Jackson is officially visiting Florida this weekend.
Tight ends coach Russ Callaway and Napier were active in this recruitment.
“Florida, Coach Napier, Coach (Russ) Calloway — they contact me everyday making sure we’re good,” Jackson told Gators Online. “You feel like home when you go there on visits. It’s a place you would want to be. (Napier) understands players, he doesn’t just recruit players like me,” Jackson said. “He wants to know about you. And he doesn’t talk just football. It’s about your life and what you plan on doing with your life. It’s just a coach you would want. It means a lot. It shows me that he not only cares but he’s true to what he says.”
Jackson has been impressed by Napier’s heavy interaction with him.
“He understands players, he doesn’t just recruit players like me,” Jackson said. “He wants to know about you. And he doesn’t talk just football. It’s about your life and what you plan on doing with your life. It’s just a coach you would want. It means a lot. It shows me that he not only cares but he’s true to what he says.”

Amir Jackson has visited the Gators three times
This is what Jackson’s coach, Jason McEachin, said about Florida: “The trips I was able to take with him (to Gainesville), in my opinion those are the two most in-depth visits he took. From meetings with the head coach, touring the facility, he’s toured the campus, toured the academic support. Both of those visits from top down were the most in depth in my opinion. And I just think the time he got to sit down and talk to Coach (Billy) Napier, both of those times, were very impactful.”
Jackson is Florida first 2024 tight end commitment. It’s possible, but perhaps not a certainty, the Gators may add a second tight end to the class. They are heavily involved with at least two other players at that position.
Jackson is a multi-sport athlete who averaged 13 points and 9 rebounds a game for a 28-2 basketball team at Portal High this past season.
