LB Myles Johnson commits to Florida Gators
Myles Johnson, a 3-star linebacker from Brewton (Ala.) T.R. Miller and one-time Alabama pledge, has committed to the Florida Gators. Johnson de-committed from the Tide last Tuesday.
Johnson, listed at 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, is the No. 50 linebacker nationally for the On3 Industry Rankings. He committed to Alabama last October when Nick Saban was the Tide’s coach. But communication with Alabama dropped off after Kalen DeBoer took over that program last winter and that gave the Gators an opening.
Myles Johnson officially visited the Gators earlier this summer
Florida became a player in this recruitment earlier in the year when Johnson made a trip to Gainesville. He later officially visited the Gators in June, then returned the following week to learn more about the program and watch the team in OTAs (organized team activities).
“It was great, man,” Johnson told Gators Online. “In January, I came for junior day. It was a little bit of what I saw here. What I seen this weekend was amazing. The people are just amazing here. They welcome me. I got to go a little bit more in depth of what it’s like to be at the University of Florida., so it was a great experience.”
Multiple Florida coaches have been heavily involved in this recruitment, including defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong, linebackers coach Ron Roberts and others. Johnson is Florida’s first linebacker commit in the 2025 class and ninth overall commitment.

“(Assistant linebackers) coach (Cannon) Gibbs and (linebackers) coach (Ron) Roberts keep up with me every week,” Johnson said. “I like how they keep in touch with me and want to make me feel welcomed. Every chance they get, they show me film and explain it the best way they can through text. They will break down what they want through today, how they did and how it was taught.”
Ole Miss was the other school of note in Johnson’s recruitment; he officially visited the Rebels in June. But in Gainesville, Johnson was won over by the staff and he now will be a Gator.
“Just the people here’ — they’re great,” Johnson said. “Like, they really want to care for you and they care about your success here. And I think in every aspect of being a student athlete, they want you to succeed and be the best you can be.”
Overall, the Gators now have nine commitments. Florida was 55th in the On3 recruiting team rankings before Johnson’s commitment. The Gators now have moved up to No. 44. You can find the complete commitment list and rankings HERE.
