Aleksander Szymczyk officially joins Gators
The Florida Gators men’s basketball team officially announced the addition of Aleksander Szymczyk on Tuesday.
Gators Online confirmed Szymczyk would be joining the Gators for the 2022-23 season on July 14. He enrolled at the school on Friday alongside 2022 UF signee Riley Kugel.
Szymczyk rounds out Florida’s 15-man scholarship roster for the upcoming season.
From Frankfurt, Germany, Szymczyk becomes UF head coach Todd Golden’s first international signee.
The 6-foot-10, 233-pound forward attended and graduated from Gymnasium Münsen-Nord and competed with International Basketball Academy Munich. He broke onto the pro scene in Germany with TSV-Oberhaching, a German ProB league club.

“We are really excited to add Aleks to our program for the upcoming season,” Golden said. “Aleks brings great size, physicality, and basketball acumen to our program. He can bang with bigs in the paint and also has the ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting ability. He’s a dual-threat big that will fit great within our program.”
Szymczyk will wear No. 13 for the Gators during his first season in Gainesville.
With his size, the Germany native provides much-needed depth in the frontcourt. With his recent arrival, he’ll have an opportunity to make a late push for some action on the court.
The Gators tipoff the season on Nov. 7 against Stonybrook.
