Alex Condon, Todd Golden discuss looming decision for Florida big

With his head coach on hand to support him and his teammates, Florida Gators forward Alex Condon went through another day of the 2025 NBA Combine on Tuesday. While he participated in interviews, Condon did not compete in the combine scrimmages.
Condon took part in the shooting drills on Monday. He shot over 50% in the three-point star (13-for-25) and off-the-dribble (16-for-30) drills. Condon was also 11-for-25 in the spot-up drill, 12-for-26 in the three-point slide drill and 7-for-10 from the foul line.
After helping Florida win the national title as a sophomore, Condon declared for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. On Tuesday he discussed his looming decision on whether to turn pro or return to UF, according to Sports Illustrated’s Kevin Sweeney.
“I gotta get that almost guaranteed [to stay in draft]. I know I’m in that 20 to 35 range right now, but you know, I’ve got a good situation waiting for me at Florida,” Condon said. “It has to be a good situation for me to stay [in draft] but feedback I’m getting from teams right now is positive and I’m ready to stay in if I need to.”
Condon has received mock draft projections for both rounds. He’s pegged as a late first-round pick by Fox Sports (18th) and On3 (28th), while ESPN projects him as the first second-round selection. Yahoo! Sports and Sports Illustrated both have Condon going 45th overall to the Chicago Bulls.
Condon earned second-team All-SEC honors last season and averaged 10.7 points. He led the Gators with 7.5 rebounds and 49 blocks along with 2.2 assists per game. His official measurements are 6’11 ¼” barefoot, 221.8 pounds with a 7’0 ¾” wingspan and 8’11 ½” standing reach.
Florida coach Todd Golden joined ESPN2 on Tuesday at the combine, where he discussed Condon’s pro potential and what another year in school could do for him.

“You’ve got a guy like Condo, who’s a great prospect,” Golden said. “And for him it’s more of like, ‘Do you want to maybe come back and potentially be a lottery guy next year?’ These are the kinds of conversations we’re having with these different guys.”
Florida starting sophomore center Rueben Chinyelu also declared early and must decide on staying in the draft. Sophomore forward Thomas Haugh elected to return for his junior season instead of going through the draft process.
The deadline for players to withdraw from the draft and retain their NCAA eligibility is May 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
“The great thing is we’ve done a lot together,” Golden said. “We’ve accomplished a lot. I just want what’s best for them, but selfishly, I want them all back for next year as well.”
