Following votes from the league’s coaches, two Florida Gators basketball players earned All-SEC honors on Monday, as announced by the Southeastern Conference.

Walter Clayton Jr., a first-team All-SEC pick, has been a standout performer for Florida, leading the team in scoring (17.2 points per game), three-pointers (84), and assists (129). The Lake Wales, Florida native scored in double figures in every full SEC game he played in and turned four 20-point performances in SEC play. He also closed out the regular season with 22 points vs. Alabama and 23 against Ole Miss.

For Clayton, today’s honor marks the second consecutive season he has earned All-SEC honors.

Then you have Alex Condon, a third-team selection. He recorded six double-doubles in SEC play, including three in top-25 victories. He recorded 12 points with 12 rebounds in Florida’s win over No. 1 Tennessee, 17 points and 10 rebounds against No. 1 Auburn, and logged a career-high 27 points along with 10 rebounds against No. 7 Alabama. In the Gators’ regular season finale against Ole Miss, Condon turned in 17 points and 15 rebounds in just 23 minutes of play.

Earlier in the day, Condon made history by becoming only the second Florida player to earn SEC Player of the Week three times in a single season.

The duo in Gainesville have been key contributors to Florida’s success, helping Todd Golden’s program finish the regular season with a 27-4 record and a 14-4 mark in SEC play. The team has consistently ranked in the nation’s top 10 since Dec. 9.

In conference play, Florida led the SEC in scoring margin (+10.78) and ranked in the top three for scoring defense (71.6 points allowed per game), field goal percentage defense (.414), rebounding margin (+5.2), assists (15.6 per game), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5), offensive rebounds (13.0), defensive rebounds (27.1), offensive rebounding percentage (.358), and three-pointers made per game (10.1).

The Gators will be back in action on Friday as the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament, facing either LSU, Mississippi State or Missouri in the quarterfinals. Tipoff from Nashville is set for 7 p.m. EDT.
