GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Six Florida Gators heard their names called during the 2023 NFL Draft. As all 32 NFL teams get ready to start camp this week, all six of those Gators have signed their first NFL contracts.

In total, Florida’s six draftees signed for a total of $57,794,754 dollars with $42,222,762 fully guaranteed.

The six selections marked the fourth time for UF in the modern draft era (1967) with the last time being in 1996. Florida continued its streak of having a pick in every draft since 1967 and is one of three schools (USC and Michigan) to achieve the mark. The Gators also had its fourth straight first-round pick with quarterback Anthony Richardson being taken fourth overall by the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday. The six picks are tied for the fourth highest by a school this year and tied for third in the SEC.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson led the way for the draftees. Richardson signed a four-year contract with an entirely guaranteed salary. As a first-round pick, the Indianapolis Colts will have a fifth-year option available to use on Richardson in 2027.

“As a competitor, as a leader, playing quarterback at the University of Florida is a huge deal. There’s a lot that comes with that. There’s a long list of strengths here,” Billy Napier said of Richardson after he was drafted. “I think the guy is a natural thrower and the arm talent, there’s no throw this guy cannot make. You can draw up about anything you want to draw up. Although he is a unique athlete, I think the arm talent, the accuracy, the ability to throw all different types of throws in the pocket, on the move. At some point in his career, he’s going to have to make his living being a passer. I think he’s capable of doing that.”

Gators Online used Spotrac to locate and record all of the Florida Gators and their new contracts.
