Anthony Richardson, Robert Griffin III help honor Florida Gators QB commit DJ Lagway

Two big-name quarterbacks helped honor 5-star Florida Gators QB commit DJ Lagway last Friday night.
Lagway’s school, Willis High in Texas, presented the touted recruit with a trophy at his game for making the finals of the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback camp this summer. But it didn’t stop there.
Both Anthony Richardson, the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, and Robert Griffin III, who won the Heisman Trophy playing QB at Baylor in 2011, sent Lagway video messages.
Griffin went first.
“Yo yo, yo, DJ Lagway, it’s your guy Robert Griffin III. Man, I’ve been following you ever since you sent me that DM on Twitter with a picture of me and you at Baylor University when you were much younger asking me to be one of your mentors. And man, I’ve got to tell you, it’s been an honor to know you and your family and watch you grow on and off the football field. … I want to say congratulations to you DJ on all your success. We know you’re not going to celebrate yourself. So we’re going to celebrate you with this trophy for you for what you’re doing man and and also what you did this summer — becoming the first ever quarterback from Willis, Texas to make it to the Elite 11 finals.”
He later added the following words of encouragement: “I just want you to know that some people ride the wave but others provide the wave. And DJ, you’ve been making waves that people are going to remember for the rest of their lives. Enjoy this last year of high school. Keep being you and I’ll be here to support you every step of the way just like everybody else in the state.”

DJ Lagway will follow in Richardson’s footsteps at Florida
Then, Richardson, the former Florida Gator who went in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, chimed in.
“What’s good DJ — it’s your boy AR. I want to say congrats on making it to the Elite 11 this past summer. That’s not easy and you did it man so congratulations. Also, I want to say ball out your senior year, keep being you, keep having fun. Enjoy it, because time is going to keep rolling real fast. Sooner or later, you’re going to be in college balling out. Keep being you, keep having fun, keep being a great QB man. Go Gators.”
Lagway is the No. 4 QB in the country for the On3 Industry. He plans to enroll at Florida in January.
He is 40-of-52 passing for 628 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the season through two games.
