Billy Napier’s army of staff members with the Gators continues to grow.

On Friday, the Gators announced the addition of Joshua Thompson, who becomes UF’s director of football operations. He was most Auburn’s director of football operations for the 2021 season.

Thomas, a graduate of Texas A&M, was Louisiana’s director of recruiting and football logistics during the 2018 season. That was Napier’s first year with the Ragin’ Cajuns.

“We’re going to hire an army of people here. We’re going to create an infrastructure not only in the personnel department but also from an on-campus recruiting, creative media, name, image, and likeness. We’ve got a great vision for the organization that we’re going to create here,” said the Gators head coach during his introductory press conference.

Prior to relocating to Auburn, Thompson was the executive director of recruiting at the University of Arkansas. He arrived in Fayetteville in May of 2019 and spent nearly a year and a half with the Razorbacks’ program.

Former head coach Chad Morris initially hired Thompson, who was then retained by Sam Pittman ahead of the 2020 Early Signing Period.

The Lone Star State native also spent time with the Aggies. He took on the role of player personnel assistant and held that position for roughly five years. He also worked in football operations as an intern in 2011-12.
