For the second time this season, the Gators are on the wrong end of historic spreads against their SEC East rivals.
They opened as 10-point underdogs at Tennessee, which had not been favored against UF by that much in at least 25 years. Florida covered in Knoxville but lost the game 38-33.
The spread against Georgia is even steeper for the Gators. The Bulldogs opened on Sunday as 22-point favorites for this Saturday’s game, according to OddsShark.com.
It marks the largest spread in the rivalry in available game data since 1995. Florida had previously been 19-point favorites in the series in 1995 and 2001.
Saturday will be the second straight season and third time in series history where UF faces a top-ranked Georgia team. The Bulldogs were nearly two-touchdown favorites last year and won 34-7.
