On Wednesday afternoon, Billy Napier expanded his coaching army in Gainesville, as Brandon Taylor was announced as the latest addition to the Gators’ program.

Taylor, who spent the past two seasons (2020-21) as a special teams graduate assistant at LSU, is taking on the role of GameChanger – Graduate Assistant. He made his coaching debut in 2016 while working at Southern University as an offensive assistant. He spent his time working with the offensive line and tight ends.

A native of Slidell, La., Taylor spent the 2019 season as a graduate assistant at Jacksonville State. He also spent time at Florida International (2018) as a defensive graduate assistant working with the linebackers and Louisiana Tech (2017) as a defensive assistant working the Bulldogs’ linebackers as well.

During his playing days, Taylor was a long snapper for five seasons (2011-15) at FIU, appearing in 35 games. He graduated with a bachelor of arts in liberal studies and is also fresh off receiving his master of liberal arts from LSU.

Taylor is the 55th announced hire by Napier. The Gators currently have 59 staff members with four additional staffers in Florida’s football video department.

Sean Spencer (co-defensive coordinator/defensive line), Patrick Toney (co-defensive coordinator/safeties), Corey Raymond (cornerbacks), Mike Peterson (outside linebackers) and Jay Bateman (inside linebackers) are the defensive coaches on staff.

Rob Sale (offensive coordinator/offensive line), Jabbar Juluke (running backs), Darnell Stapleton (offensive line), Keary Colbert (receivers) and William Peagler (tight ends) round out the coaching staff.

A pair of analysts who will assist the on-field coaches are Ryan O’Hara (quarterbacks – Napier) and Jamar Chaney (linebackers – Bateman, Peterson).

Additionally, Napier has tapped Mark Hocke to run the strength and conditioning program. Hocke is joined by Joe Danos, Karmichael Dunbar, Tiger Jones, Edward Thompson, and Alex Watkins.

“We’re going to hire an army of people here. We’re going to create an infrastructure. Not only in the personnel department but also from on-campus recruiting, creative media, name, image, and likeness. We’ve got a great vision for the organization that we’re going to create here.” Napier said during his introductory press conference.
