Billy Napier explains opening Florida's first fall practice since 2014
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida fans don’t have to wait until the season opener next month to watch the Gators. They can get another look at the team this weekend.
For the first time since 2014, UF is holding an open practice during fall training camp. Fans will be able to watch the Gators on Saturday, August 5 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Florida also opened three practices to the public in 2018 ahead of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. UF coach Billy Napier discussed his decision to open up fall camp this year.
“Some of these traditions maybe that existed prior to COVID, I think that those are healthy things to bring back,” Napier said. “And I think our fan base, obviously you count the spring game, you count the open practice, they get two opportunities to come see the team.
“And I think this is a special place because of the following and the support that we have. It’s a little bit of a thank you and appreciation for what they do for us every Saturday in the Swamp in the fall.”
Gates will open at 2 p.m. and fans can enter through Gate 1 and 6. Admission to the stadium is free. Gate 18 will serve as the only exit point at the end of practice. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium’s gameday prohibited items and clear bag policy will be in effect. Fans can become familiar with the list of prohibited items by clicking here.
Select concession stands will be open, as snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Additionally, the Gators Sportshop will be open near Gate 9. Restrooms will also be open throughout the main concourse of the stadium.

Autograph signing at Gators open practice
Florida Victorious will also be hosting an exclusive autograph signing for its members with Napier and Gators football players on Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The fan experience, which will follow the team’s open practice, will take place directly on Florida Field. The autograph session will begin at 4:30 p.m. and last 45 minutes.
“I think that there’s an NIL piece associated with that as well, relative to what’s available after the practice is over,” Napier said of Saturday’s open session. “It’s an old tradition that I think we can bring back, and certainly there’s an NIL opportunity as well.”
Florida Victorious members will be granted field access for themselves and one guest of age 12 or under via the north end zone near gate seven. Fans will find offense players on the west side of the field, and defense players and special teams on the east side. Members are permitted to bring one item of memorabilia to be signed.
