Jordan Herald promoted by Billy Napier to run Gators social media

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — For the third time in the last five months, Florida coach Billy Napier has promoted one of his staff members to a new position. The latest move is with Jordan Herald, whose new title is Director of Creative Media and Social Strategy.

Napier hired him in 2022 for his second stint with the Gators as director of creative media. After taking over social media efforts on a temporary basis, Herald has been promoted to oversee and run the @GatorsFB social media channels. He in charge of day-to-day planning, content creation, social media team messaging and NFL content, among others.

Herald will continue to oversee the graphic design and photography efforts for internal, external, print and recruiting purposes in addition to his new role. He is responsible for ideation and production of materials such as official visit materials, mailers, brochures, personalized recruiting and social graphics, as well as coordination and collaboration for photo operations of games, practice, events and recruiting.

Herald is the third staff promotion by Napier this year. He promoted Russ Callaway to tight ends coach in March and promoted Bri Wade to director of football recruiting & external engagement in June.

Herald is taking over the responsibilities of former associate director of digital strategy Tamsyn Stonebarger, who left the Gators in May to become the social media manager for DC United. Stonebarger was notably Napier’s 50th staff hire last year and previously worked with the LA Clippers.

Napier currently has more than 70 staff members for 2023, including his 10 assistant coaches, head strength coach Mark Hocke and 63 support staff members. Napier hired nearly 60 of them.

Background on Jordan Herald

Herald enters his fourth season with Florida and re-joined the Gators in 2022 after a stint as the Assistant Director of Creative Design at Ohio State University. Herald previously worked with at UF from 2020-2021 as the Assistant Director of Creative Media where he assisted in graphic design, photography, social media and recruiting efforts. He also had stops with the Charlotte Hornets and West Virginia University.

A native of Wintersville, Ohio, Herald graduated in 2019 from Miami University (Ohio) with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health. He worked as a football student assistant during his four years as part of the RedHawks.
