BJ Mack includes Gators in top 10 list of schools
BJ Mack included the Florida Gators in his top 10 list of schools on Tuesday, via Instagram.
The Wofford graduate transfer forward’s announcement comes nine days after he completed an in-home visit with the Florida staff.
By March 6, Todd Golden and his staff had already reached out to Mack alongside another 20 schools. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Mack was the first reported player in the transfer portal to have been contacted by the Gators.
Also in contention for the No. 40 overall player in the transfer portal is LSU, Arkansas, Iowa, Butler, Xavier, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Michigan and South Carolina.
What Mack could bring to Florida
After starting his collegiate career with just one season at USF, he transferred to Wofford. In 2021-22, he took a major step forward, averaging 16.5 points on 53.8% from the floor, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

In his senior campaign, his numbers were nearly identical. If anything, he polished his game a bit, cutting down on turning the ball over and staying out of foul trouble.
It’s noteworthy that Mack can shoot it from beyond the arc. He shot an eye-opening 44.8% from 3-point land a year ago. That number slipped to 33.5% this season, but he’s still a threat anywhere on the court.
Colin Castleton’s college career is over, and Jason Jitoboh just entered the transfer portal on Monday. To pile it on, CJ Felder announced he is also entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.
With that, the UF frontcourt consists of Aleks Szymczyk and Alex Fudge. Mack would add a veteran presence and simply another body for a Florida roster that is thin. If BJ Mack were to come to Florida, his role would be crucial as the Gators look to avoid a third-straight season of missing the tournament.
