Former Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap joined an exclusive UF job with his victory in Super Bowl LVII as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dunlap was one of four Gators on the Chiefs roster to win a ring, but it wasn’t his first championship. He won the 2008 national title at Florida.

Dunlap has now reached rare air with Kansas City, becoming just the ninth player in UF history to win a national championship and Super Bowl.

He’s also just the third defensive player, along with fellow 2008 national champs Lerentee McCray (Denver, 2016) and Justin Trattou (New York Giants, 2012).

In his 13th NFL season and first with the Chiefs, the 33-year-old Dunlap had his highest number of tackles (41) and pass deflections (8) since 2019 in Cincinnati. He also made 4.0 sacks this year, the last one giving him 100 total for his career.

“This is why I signed up and why I chose to be here,” Dunlap said last week. “There was mutual interest: they wanted a veteran rusher, and I wanted the opportunity to make a run in the postseason and to be in this game. I feel like it was the perfect marriage.”
