4-star DB Jaelen Waters de-commits from Florida Gators

Just two days after Florida cornerbacks coach Will Harris left the Gators for a position with the Miami Hurricanes, 4-star cornerback Jaelen Waters has de-committed from UF.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Waters is the No. 122 overall prospect and No. 11 cornerback in the 2026 class for the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s the No. 19 recruit in Florida.
After it was learned that Harris was leaving the Florida program on Thursday night, Waters told Gators Online he was stunned by the news. “I’m really in shock just like everybody else,” Waters said. “Me, my mom and my dad are all in shock.” But he added, he was in wait-and-see mode.
“I’m going to look over it and stuff,” he said of the situation at Florida. “But it does impact my recruitment. Coach Harris, that’s my dawg. He’s like an extra father figure.”

Miami is a team to watch in Waters’ recruitment. But that already was the case before Harris’ exit. Waters has visited the Hurricanes multiple times. His de-commitment is not a real surprise, but the timing of it certainly is interesting.
The Hurricanes are the favorites to land Waters in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Florida now is down to two commitments in the 2026 class — 4-star quarterback Will Griffin of Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit and 3-star safety Devin Jackson of Orlando (Fla.) First Academy. Waters had been the highest-ranked member of the commitment list.
