Cheston Blackshear, Gators quality control assistant, leaving UF for on-field job
Cheston Blackshear, who played on the offensive line for the Florida Gators under Steve Spurrier and was a quality control assistant for Billy Napier for two seasons, is leaving the program to be tight ends coach at Army.
Blackshear posted the following note on X, the app formerly known as Twitter:
“It has been an honor to serve at my alma mater, these last two scasons. It is difficult to convey the overwhelming sense of pride I feel to have had theopportunity to return to this great football program. During my time at the University of Florida, I have had the privilege of witnesning the positive changes that Coach Napier is bringing to this team.
His leadership and vision have been truly inspiring, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked under his guidance and leadership. I want to acknowledge the tremendous work ethic and guidance of Coach Sale and Coach Stapleton. Their dedication to the team and their commitment to excellence have left a lasting impact on me. They have truly welcomed me into the Family,’ and I am thankful for the experiences and Inowledge I gained from them.
He was with Billy Napier for two seasons
I cannot express enough gratitude to the coaches, support staff, and athletic department at the University of Florida. Their tireless efforts behind the scenes often go unnoticed, but they play a crucial role in the success of our athletes. Through their hard work and dedication, our athletes benefit greatly. To the young men I have had the privilege of serving, I want to express my deepest appreciation. Your commitment, work ethic, and loyalty both on and off the field have been truly amazing. You have made me a better coach and mentor, and I am grateful for the impact you have had on my life. The daily grind has formed an unbreakable bond that will remain with me forever.

Cheston Blackshear helped UF win a national title
Blackshear was four-year letter winner with the Gators. He played in 41 games at Florida and made 28 starts from 1995-99. The Gators won the program’s first national title in 1996.
Blackshear is a native of Jacksonville, Fla.
At Army, he will work for coach Jeff Monken.
