GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gators Online obtained contract details Thursday for four Florida football assistant coaches through a FOIA request with the University Athletics Association.

New defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong signed a three-year deal worth $3.6 million that runs from February 22, 2023 until January 31, 2026. He will earn $1,100,000 in 2023 and then his salary increases by $100,000 annually.

“You take the job that you had at the University of Alabama to come to a place like Florida. I just didn’t think it was going to happen in a month. It’s been a whirlwind,” Armstrong said. “But an opportunity to come work here in an elite institution on and off the field, to be with Coach [Billy] Napier, to be with this staff, to be associated with the University of Florida, it’s a no brainer. God’s been good to us and we’re very excited to be here, and ready to go.”

Florida secondary coach Corey Raymond signed a contract extension through January 2025, which was first reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz, receiving a promotion and raise. He now has a base salary of $755,000, which is $30,000 more than he earned in his first year with the Gators.

“Coach [Napier] did that,” Raymond said of his increased role. “It was nothing that came about, it was just something that coach decided to do and I’m gonna just roll with it. You know, he’s the head man. So, it was good.”

In his third stint as Florida’s receivers coach, Billy Gonzales signed a two-year, $1 million contract with an annual base salary of $500,000. His first stint at UF was 2005-09 and he returned from 2018-21.

“It’s an honor to be back in this building,” Gonzales said. “I wear this wear this Gator logo with great pride and I really believe that. This is home to me, and it means a ton. So, to have the opportunity, I’m very humbled to be in this position. Very honored. I’m more hungry than I’ve ever been to have an opportunity to be a part of a program and see it continue to go forward in the journey.”

First-year tight ends coach Russ Callaway also received a two-year deal that will pay him $300,000 annually. Callaway was promoted to a full-time assistant after serving as a defensive intern in 2022.

“It’s extremely exciting,” he said of his promotion. “I had the chance to work with Coach Napier at the at Alabama in 2011, 2012. We’ve kind of carried our relationship over and that was a big reason why I chose to come down here after leaving the Giants. I wanted to be with a good person that knew ball, knew people and was a joy to be around and work for. I’m thankful for the opportunity and look forward to doing some good things.”
