Contract details revealed on three Florida Gators hoops coaches
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gators Online obtained contract details Thursday for three Florida men’s basketball assistant coaches through a FOIA request with the University Athletics Association.
UF associate head coach Carlin Hartman is the highest-paid assistant on Todd Golden’s staff. He signed a two-year contact in April 2022 with a base salary of $565,000.
“The transition has been great,” Hartman said during his first season at UF. “I guess the biggest thing for me is just having familiarity with so many members of our staff. Todd and I have worked together, known each other for 14 years.
“Kevin Hovde and myself, I coached him at Richmond and then we worked together at Columbia. Now, being back here with him again … he’s kind of like a son to me. Jonathon Safire is a guy I always wanted to work with and now having this opportunity is tremendous.”
The other associate head coach on Golden’s staff is Korey McCray. Florida signed him to a two-year deal with an annual base salary of $365,00.

“It kind of came out of nowhere,” McCray said of his new job at UF. “Was at Mississippi State for the last seven years under Ben Howland. We got let go. I was looking at a couple positions and I met Todd here in Gainesville, we had a great, great interview. I felt comfortable with him and I’m very excited and thankful to be here.”
The third member of the Gators’ coaching staff is assistant coach Kevin Hovde. He’s also on a two-year contract that pays him $190,00 annually.
“I got down here in March, right after Coach Golden got here,” Hovde said. “I think one of our strengths is adapting what we do to our talent. So, there’s some things we’re never going to compromise on. We’re always going to have great ball movement, be an unselfish team.”
Along with their base salaries, each UF assistant coach receives an additional $10,000 from Nike, a $6,000 car allowance and $1,500 annual academic bonus.
