GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida starting right guard Damieon George Jr. is still with the UF football team and no longer plans to transfer, according to program sources. He is currently practicing with the Gators for their bowl game.

This news comes less than 24 hours after two agents representing George, Noah Reisenfeld and Adie Vongontard, told On3 on Friday that the redshirt junior planned to enter the transfer portal.

George has been a two-year starter at UF after transferring from Alabama. He spent three seasons in Tuscaloosa and made 17 appearances, starting the final three games of the 2021 regular season at right tackle.

George was a starting offensive tackle for the Gators in 2023, making 10 starts at right tackle and concluding the year with start at left tackle. He made a position change this offseason, moving inside to right guard.

George started every game he was available for in 2024 and played better as an interior lineman. He improved his pass blocking grade from 56.7 last year at right tackle to 73.4 this fall at right guard, according to PFF.

George did not allow any sacks in 10 starts, missing two games due to injury. His season highlights included four games with pass blocking grades above 80.0, including a career-high mark of 89.4 against Georgia from PFF.

“Speed. That’s one of the biggest things,” George said of the differences between the two spots. “And inside you play with bigger bodies, so you got to be more powerful. And on the outside, you play against faster guys so ultimately you got to be quick on your feet and do a lot of things that involves speed.

“I talked to coach [Rob] Sale after the season and told them that I thought it would be best if I move inside. He told me that he still thinks I can play tackle, and he felt like I could play both, but ultimately, I felt like guard was the best position for me.”
