Seattle selected Young’s contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, May 5 and the Boca Raton, Fla. native made his long-awaited MLB debut on Monday, May 9. Young fired 2.1 shutout innings of relief against the Phillies in his first career outing, scattering three hits and one walk while striking out three batters.

The Toronto Blue Jays selected Young with the 242nd overall pick in the eighth round of the 2015 MLB Draft. Young is in his first season with the Seattle organization in 2022.

Young joins a long list of 2015 Gators to make the Major Leagues

Danny Young is the twelfth Florida Gator from the 2015 team to make it to the Major Leagues. That’s 35.4 % of the roster that has made it to the show. The 2015 team finished the season with a 52-18 record and a 19-11 mark in the SEC. They went to the SEC Tournament but lost their first game to Arkansas. With its back against the wall, the Gatos reeled off wins over Auburn (11-2) and Arkansas (10-0) to get to the final four. They beat LSU (2-1) and then Vanderbilt (7-3) to win the SEC Tournament. It’s the last SEC Tournament championship for the Gators.

Florida went a perfect 3-0 in the Gainesville Regional before sweeping Florida State in the Gainesville Super Regional to punch its ticket to Omaha. Florida beat Miami twice but lost two games to Virginia to miss out on the Championship series.
