DB target Justin Denson says it will be 'hard' for him to not commit to Gators on OV
Justin Denson Jr., the No. 1 recruit in the state of Rhode Island, appears to be leaning heavily toward Florida entering his official visit with the Gators this weekend.
“I don’t know if I’m going to commit, but I’ve been on the edge of committing recently — the last couple of weeks,” Denson told Gators Online. “I just know being my first official visit and Florida being my dream school growing up — and the love they’ve been showing the past couple weeks — I just know it will be very hard for me not to commit this weekend.”
Denson, listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, plays at La Salle Academy in Providence. He said the Gators are recruiting him to play cornerback.
What has Florida No. 1 on his list right now?
“(Secondary coach) Corey Raymond,” Denson said. “I mean, he coaches my position and he turns 3-stars into first-rounders. When it comes to learning the position and developing, there is nobody better than him at that. Some schools tell you you can come play as a freshman, but Coach Raymond is such a real coach. He’s not about that. With him, it’s about being developed. You learn how to play the position so you don’t fall in the draft. Some schools have big names that thought they’d be first round and they drop to the fourth because they didn’t develop. They didn’t learn how to play position.”
According to Denson, he talks to Raymond “every day.”
“They wanted me to commit the fist time I visited,” Denson said. “I almost did but it was just too early in my recruitment.”

Justin Denson Jr. will bring two family members with him to Gainesville
Denson will visit the Gators this weekend with his mom, brother and trainer.
“My mom likes (Florida),” he said. “She can’t wait to get down there. It’s her first time coming. “
Denson said his mother has given him the go-ahead to pick Florida if that’s what he wants to do.
“She’s really big on what I want to do,” he said. “As long as the education is good, she’s fine with it.”
Overall, the Gators seem to have impressed Denson on many levels.
“It’s an SEC school — and look at the facilities. It’s crazy,” Denson said. “There’s just no way for me not to get better there”
Denson is scheduled to officially visit Oklahoma on June 16. It’s unclear if he still would take that visit should he commit to the Gators before then.
