Florida Gators DC Austin Armstrong sings ‘Ignition (Remix)’ at karaoke with official visitors
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A group of 17 recruits and their families were treated to a karaoke night during their official visit to Florida over the weekend, and new defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong was the star of the show.
Shanell Robinson, the mother of four-star defensive lineman D’antre Robinson, shared quite the scene from the party. In the video, Armstrong is working the crowd as he sings along to “Ignition (Remix)” by R. Kelly.
He fumbles the lyrics on the chorus but saves the performance with a dance move.
“It was a family affair in the Swamp, them Gator guys/girls had us turnt. Nothing but love laughs and a great time,” wrote Robinson’s mother, who confirmed in the comment section that Armstrong was singing in the video.
Gators Online caught up with Robinson after his official visit and he spoke highly of the trip as well.
“This visit was very good. To come and see the coaches and everything. I met all the coaching staff, the weight room coaches,” said Robinson, who added that the weekend helped the Gators’ chances. “They showed me a lot. They showed me around the school outside of football; they showed me the dorms. The players, they have a really good bond, so I really like that.”

Four-star defender LJ McCray, one of four top-100 overall recruits on the visitors list, also enjoyed spending time around Armstrong.
“He’s on it for sure,” McCray said.
Armstrong served as the primary recruit for Michigan safety transfer RJ Moten, who committed during his official visit. Armstrong was so excited about landing Moten that he hit him up early the next morning.
“I knew Coach Armstrong would be happy and he was just ecstatic,” Moten said. “He called me this morning at 7:30 and he woke me up, still ecstatic.”
