Demarkcus Bowman announces new school after transferring from Florida
Demarkcus Bowman has found a new college destination just three days after entering the portal. The former five-star running back announced Monday that he’s staying in state and transferring to Central Florida.
On3’s Matt Zenitz was the first to report the news Friday that Bowman was no longer with the Gators.
His departure leaves Florida with a solid trio of backs in returners Nay’Quan Wright and Lorenzo Lingard and Louisiana transfer Montrell Johnson. Bowman was projected fourth on the depth chart.
UF also added another player to the position this offseason in four-star running back signee Trevor Etienne, the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne.
Bowman becomes the the fourth player to exit the Florida football program this month, along with receiver Fenley Graham, safety Mordecai McDaniel and defensive lineman Chris Thomas.
Bowman marks the 10th transfer for the Gators since the 2021 season and the second one to end up at UCF, joining tight end Kemore Gamble.

Demarkcus Bowman on the move again
This is the second time Bowman is transferring. The former Lakeland standout signed with Clemson out of high school. Bowman enrolled there in August of 2020 but entered the portal just a few months later. He only appeared in two games for the Tigers, carrying the ball just nine times for 32 yards.
Bowman spent just one year in Gainesville after transferring over from Clemson. He saw action in five games and as a reserve running back in four games, rushing 14 times for 81 yards last season.
Bowman rushed for 61 yards in Florida’s Orange & Blue Game and led all ball carriers with 17 carries, surpassing his season total for carries last year. However, he also fumbled twice in the spring game.
Bowman was ranked the nation’s No. 3 running back and No. 23 overall prospect in the Class of 2020.
