Demarkcus Bowman enters transfer portal

Florida Gators running back Demarkcus Bowman is entering the transfer portal. On3’s Matt Zenitz was the first to report the news.
Coming out of high school, Bowman was rated a five-star prospect by the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services.
This is the second time Bowman will be transferring. The running back from Lakeland signed with Clemson out of high school. Bowman enrolled there in August of 2020 but entered the transfer portal just a few months later. He only appeared in two games for Clemson, carrying the ball just nine times for 32 yards.
Bowman spent just one year in Gainesville. He saw action in five games and as a reserve running back in four games, rushing 14 times for 81 yards.

Bowman leaves a crowded backfield
The room that Bowman leaves will not be void of talent. Florida returns Nay’Quan Wright and Lorenzo Lingard. They also added Louisiana transfer Montrell Johnson in the transfer portal and signed Trevor Etienne.
Lingard has had little impact since transferring to Florida but has impressed the new staff. He, along with Wright and Johnson, form a solid trio of backs for the Gators.
“No one’s going to be given anything. You’ve got to go out there and work for it on a daily basis. And we want to make sure that you’re playing at a high level,” running backs coach Jabbar Juluke said during spring camp. “We talk about having great habits and going out there and competing. But the best thing that we’re going to do as a running back unit? We’re going to cheer for one another. We’re going to support each other. We’re out there making sure that we’re doing things, even though we’re having friendly competition, we still want to be supportive of each other while we’re out there. So we’re going to put the guys out there that deserves to play.”
